Wintering · Palma

Palma is the one port on Mallorca where you can winter a boat without ever leaving the bay. The STP yard and the commercial marinas around Contramuelle put travel-lifts of every size on the water, so an 8–25 m yacht is hauled, pressure-washed and chocked the same morning it comes out — no road transport, no waiting list at the ramp.

Because the yards here run year-round and compete for the same berths, winter quotes are keener than anywhere else on the island, but the good hard-standing fills from mid-October. Book the haul-out before the first autumn gregale and you also lock in the antifouling and guardianage slots that get scarce once every owner in the bay decides to lay up at once.

Common questions

Can my boat stay in the water over winter in Palma?

Yes — the bay is sheltered enough that many owners keep afloat with a guardianage contract. Hauling out ashore is still recommended for antifouling years or if you leave the island.

When should I book the haul-out?

Aim for late September to early October. The best hard-standing at STP and the surrounding yards is committed before the autumn gregale winds start.

Is road transport needed?

No. Palma's yards lift straight from the water onto their own hard, so there is no lorry cost — a real saving compared with smaller ports.
